NEW YORK -- After the Yankees turned down Carlos Beltran, it was his turn.
Beltran rejected the Yankees' offer of a front-office job not long after the team picked Aaron Boone to become its next manager over him, Beltran told reporters Tuesday night.
"I do appreciate the consideration," he said at the 38th annual the 38th Annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan, benefitting the AHRC New York City Foundation, which assists children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Beltran was among six people the Yankees interviewed for the chance to take over for Joe Girardi, whose 10-year run as manager ended when the team didn't renew his contract after it expired after the playoffs.
