Can Yankees’ Austin Romine be this year’s Shelley Duncan?

Before the third inning Saturday, you probably could have gotten better odds in Vegas of spotting Big Foot than of Chase Headley getting a hit and Austin Romine an RBI double, both off David Price in a three-batter span.

But it was the kind of day to dream for the Yankees. Their two best players, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller, were unavailable due to a recent heavy workload. So to create the kind of big lead that would make their absence irrelevant, the Yankees would need the kind of synchronized performance of timely hitting and a strong start that has evaded them.
