Can Nathan Eovaldi be Yankees’ fireballing bullpen savior?

Should the Yankees get by Tuesday night’s wild-card game against an opponent yet to be identified, they might be able to add an intriguing bullpen part for the ALCS.

Nathan Eovaldi hasn’t pitched since Sept. 5 due to an inflamed right elbow, but the starter threw a bullpen session Friday at Camden Yards, where the Yankees-Orioles game was washed out.

While there is no chance Eovaldi, who leads the Yankees with 14 wins, will be ready to contribute Tuesday night, the door is open for him to work out of the pen in the middle innings of the ALDS that will open Thursday night in Kansas City or Toronto.
