Cameron Maybin gets call up as Yankees pass on Clint Frazier

BOSTON — With the Yankees in need of reinforcements for the outfield, Cameron Maybin was brought back from his rehab stint with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

The Yankees played with just three outfielders on Thursday, when Brett Gardner was placed on the 10-day injured list with left knee soreness. He’s been out since Sunday.

Stephen Tarpley was called up on Thursday to provide an arm to the bullpen and he was optioned after the game.

Maybin has been rehabbing a left calf strain and was scheduled to play nine innings in the outfield for SWB on Friday, but the Yankees went with him over Clint Frazier, whose trouble defensively have been well-documented.
