A day after Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell took a line drive off the face, manager Joe Girardi said the rookie is doing well, considering it could have been much, much worse.
Mitchell, who was diagnosed with a nasal fracture, was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list later Tuesday.
“You know, thank God he’s feeling good,” Girardi said while appearing at the Prospector Theater in Ridgefield, Conn., for a Yankees HOPE Week charity event. “He has the partial fracture of the nasal cavity; but it could’ve been a lot worse. And that’s really scary.
“You can see all the players, your heart really drops when that happens, and you’re scared and you worry about him.
