BALTIMORE — Zach Britton saved 139 games for the Orioles in six-plus seasons as their closer.
On Friday, he got a chance to pick up his first as a Yankee at Camden Yards.
With Aroldis Chapman on the disabled list with left knee tendinitis, Aaron Boone said before the game he didn’t expect to hand the closer role to just one reliever.
“In the short term, I think we’ll just play it day-by-day,’’ Boone said.
Friday was Britton’s game, and he was able to earn the save despite allowing a solo homer to Chris Davis in a 7-5, 10-inning win.
