TORONTO — Masahiro Tanaka didn’t provide the length Joe Girardi was seeking from his best starting pitcher. Nor did the Yankees’ lineup, except for Brian McCann, punish a lot of what the Blue Jays were offering.
So, it was left to the bullpen, and it carried the Yankees to a 3-2 victory in front of 28,819 at Rogers Centre Tuesday night.
After Tanaka gave up two runs in five innings and was forced out of the game because of a 92-pitch count, Johnny Barbato, Chasen Shreve, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller posted four scoreless frames.
Playing for the first time since Saturday in Detroit due to a postponement Sunday and having Monday off, the Yankees won for a second straight game and have won four of their past five.
