Brian McCann (foot) X-rays negative, listed as day-to-day

The Yankees dodged a bullet on Thursday as an MRI and CT scan on Brian McCann's sore right foot both came back negative.

McCann was examined at New York-Presbyterian Hospital by team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad as well as orthopedic foot and ankle specialist Dr. Justin Greisberg. He is day-to-day.

The catcher has been bothered by the foot issue since May 24, when he came out of a game in the eighth inning. Wednesday, McCann started against the Mariners but had to be removed after his second-inning at-bat as he was experiencing pain near the arch of his foot that began creeping up toward his calf.
