LONDON — In the wake of Luis Severino’s latest setback, it’s fair to wonder if the Yankees will see their former staff ace on the mound this year.
Severino opened the year on the injured list with an inflamed right shoulder rotator cuff and then suffered a lat injury that has never been explained how it happened. Now, soreness has invaded the area and forced the right-hander to put off throwing off a mound.
This past week Severino was scheduled to get on a mound, but that was nixed thanks to soreness that Aaron Boone said was probably lat-related.
