STAMFORD, Conn. — In the Yankees’ big picture, Sonny Gray might wind up as part of a solution. Or he might just be a self-correction in and of himself. Either way, Brian Cashman insisted Friday morning the beleaguered right-hander will be traded for a worthwhile return.
In between trips rappelling Landmark Square here, Cashman said he had received inquiries from 11 teams about Gray, whose 2018 struggles with the Yankees prompted their general manager to declare publicly he would jettison the right-hander this offseason.
“I’ve had a lot of interesting dialogue, whether it’s for prospects, whether it’s for major league, our need for their need,” Cashman said.
