The New York Yankees have signed Chad Brettis, former pitcher of the Rockies to join spring camp. While the deal is likely a minor-league bargain, Bettis adds more competition to a bullpen that currently consists of Adam Ottavino, Zack Britton, Tommy Kanhle, and much more.
Bettis is a back-end reliever who can spark solid outings at times. During the 2015-16 season, he tossed 301 innings with a 4.75 ERA and a 4.11 FIP.
However, Bettis contracted testicular cancer in 2016, which derailed his career and forced him into a recovery program.
