Blue Jays architect explains all-in call that has Yankees reeling

CHICAGO — Blame the schedule.

The Yankees open a crucial series Friday in the belly of the beast, Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays will be boasting of an 11-game winning streak that has catapulted them to the American League East penthouse.

The Jays are the talk of baseball, going on this run for the ages — they’ve also won 14 of 15 — after acquiring Troy Tulowitzki and their Friday night starter David Price prior to the July 31 non-waivers trade deadline. And the architect of this plan, Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos, sat among (primarily) men far older and far richer than him Thursday at a swanky downtown hotel here, as he represented his organization at Major League Baseball’s quarterly owners’ meetings.
