An American League slugger who was suspended for his role in the Biogenesis scandal is the leading vote-getter at designated hitter in All-Star balloting — but it’s not Alex Rodirguez.
Seattle’s Nelson Cruz, who served a 50-game suspension in the 2013 season for his ties to the Miami-based anti-aging clinic, had garnered 1,225,225 votes at DH, Major League Baseball announced Monday in the first voting figures released. Rodriguez, who was banned for the entire 2014 season, is a distant third with 351,567. Kendrys Morales of the Royals is second with 918,049 votes for a game that, right now, certainly appears to have a Royal blue feel to it.
