BOSTON — Billy Butler was brought to the Yankees in hopes he could regain his production against left-handed pitching and he got off to a promising start in Thursday’s 7-5 loss to the Red Sox.
He had a pair of RBIs in his Yankees debut — when he arrived at Fenway Park about an hour before the game. He drove in runs in the first and third innings, but the designated hitter comes to the Yankees with plenty of questions surrounding him.
The former A’s slugger, who was picked up by the Yankees following his release by Oakland on Sunday despite being owed $10 million through next season, was also involved in a clubhouse brawl with teammate Danny Valencia, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
