NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — According to multiple reports, the Yankees are calling up first baseman Greg Bird.
Yesterday Girardi said Brendan Ryan was current backup 1B and no way Teixeira would play 16 in a row. Bird's promotion seemed inevitable.

He will join the team on Thursday night in Cleveland.
Greg Bird will be joining the Yankees. Will back up Teixeira at first base and ARod at DH. Long stretch of games so Yankees want a back up.
