TAMPA — There are two openings in the Yankees’ bullpen, which makes the pitchers in the mix all that more important in games that don’t count.
“I think we feel like we have some really good options with some guys that can push for consideration and impact our club at some point,” Aaron Boone said Sunday at George M. Steinbrenner Field. “Performance does matter. The stuff we are seeing does matter.”
Stuff trumps numbers under the palm trees.
“Do we get caught up necessarily how many hits [given up] and this guy’s ERA? Not necessarily,” Boone said.
