Around the Empire: Yankees news - 4/14/21

MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres was out of the lineup last night with a jammed ring finger. Torres, who is off to a very slow start at the plate, was injured while diving into a base during a pickoff play on Monday. A CT scan and X-rays showed no structural damage, but it is definitely a situation to monitor for manager Aaron Boone. With Tyler Wade on the taxi squad, Gio Urshela played shortstop yesterday for the Bombers, but the skipper expressed optimism that his star infielder could return on Wednesday.

The Ringer | Ben Lindbergh: Two leaders with different backgrounds and budgets have been friends and foes at the same time since 1997, and it all started with one trade: Kenny Rogers for Scott Brosius.
