New York Post | Peter Botte: One popular name often connected to Brian Cashman’s wish list was taken off the free agent board yesterday, as ex-Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Nationals. In his opening press conference, Schwarber confirmed that the Yankees did contact him early on, but nothing came close to materializing. In fact, Marc Carig of The Athletic separately noted that the Yanks never made Schwarber an offer. Even with a crowded outfield/DH situation, it would’ve been fun to see how many dingers the man could’ve crushed to the short porch in 2021, but oh well.
