New York Post | Dan Martin: By now, most fans know the major moves the Yankees made yesterday, informing hitting coach Marcus Thames, deputy P.J. Pilittere, and third-base coach Phil Nevin that they will not be returning for the 2022 season. While this wasn’t necessarily an unexpected development, it does potentially indicate a significant change in the on-field management of the club. Thames, especially, drew high praise in 2019 for developing Yankee hitters, but regression almost entirely across the board over the past two seasons was enough to convince the club a change was needed.
