The Yankees placed closer Aroldis Chapman on the 10-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis on Wednesday, a day after he exited the club's 2-1, 12-inning win over the Marlins after six pitches. In corresponding moves, the club recalled right-hander Chance Adams from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and acquired catcher Chris Rabago off waivers from the Rockies, optioning him to Double-A Trenton.
Chapman, who described his pain on Tuesday night as "more than usual," underwent an MRI exam on Wednesday, before the club's announcement. Chapman's discomfort is in the same spot that prompted his removal from a July 8 game against the Blue Jays in Toronto, which also forced Chapman to bow out of the All-Star Game.
