TAMPA — Aroldis Chapman worked a game Sunday for the first time this spring and looked like Mitch Williams, circa 1993.
The Yankees’ closer faced three batters, hit one, gave up a hit and got a ground ball for a force out.
“First outing and physically my arm feels good,” Chapman said. “And that’s what I want.”
Chapman, whose velocity was in the upper 90s, is looking to eliminate some struggles against lefties from a year ago, when he held them to a .175 (10-for-57) batting average and fanned 27.
“I had a couple of issues against lefties last year and I want to improve that,” said Chapman, who gave up two homers in those 10 hits.
