The Yankees’ charmed start to the season hit a speed bump on Sunday, as Aroldis Chapman was placed on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder rotator cuff inflammation.
The news was hardly shocking, considering Chapman’s recent behavior on the mound and rocky recent performances.
In his last outing on Friday, Chapman lacked command and had to be checked out by trainer Steve Donohue after he shook his arm during an at-bat against Houston’s Jose Altuve. He remained in the game, but didn’t finish the inning.
Chapman wasn’t in the clubhouse following Friday’s loss in The Bronx, but Joe Girardi was looking for answers after the game.
