Andujar ties AL rookie record with 47th double

BOSTON -- Miguel Andujar is wrapping up his impressive rookie season by reaching more milestones, legging out his 47th double on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park to equal an American League rookie record set by Fred Lynn of the 1975 Red Sox.

Andujar stroked a fourth-inning double to left field off Boston reliever Bobby Poyner, then scored on Luke Voit's 14th home run as a Yankee. The Major League record for doubles by a rookie is 52, held by Johnny Fredrick of the 1929 Brooklyn Robins.

The extra-base hit came one day after Andujar notched his 45th and 46th doubles in Saturday's 8-5 victory at Boston, surpassing Joe DiMaggio (44 in 1936) for the most doubles by any rookie in Yankees history.
