Miguel Andujar is a legitimate AL Rookie of the Year candidate and likely has passed teammate Gleyber Torres in that race with a bat that has turned into a extra-base machine.
Andujar upped his doubles total to 33 with two in Tuesday night’s 4-1 win over the Rays at Yankee Stadium. The second one came with two outs in the ninth and the Yankees leading by two runs and preceded Greg Bird’s opposite-field double to left that moved the advantage to three runs.
Whether Andujar follows Aaron Judge as back-to-back Yankees to win the AL Rookie of the Year honors is still to be decided, but he has certainly gotten teammate Neil Walker’s attention.
