TAMPA — Andrew Miller expects to be able to pitch with a chip fracture of the pisiform bone at the base of his glove hand, which is encouraging news for the Yankees.
However, the club wasn’t as fortunate when it came to Bryan Mitchell’s left big toe. An MRI exam Wednesday night uncovered a fractured sesamoid bone in his big toe.
“I don’t know why I would miss time with injury to my right hand,’’ said left-handed Miller, the closer until Aroldis Chapman’s 30-day suspension ends May 9.
Miller was struck by the Braves’ Willlians Astudillo’s line drive Wednesday.
