Alex Rodriguez hits 659th home run, moving within one of tying Willie Mays

Alex Rodriguez hit career home run No. 659 on Sunday night, moving him within one of tying Willie Mays for fourth place on Major League Baseball's all-time list.

Rodriguez sent a 2-2 pitch from Jonathon Niese into the right-field seats at Yankee Stadium in the first inning, cutting the Mets' lead in half, 2-1.

It is the fifth home run of the season for Rodriguez, who returned after being suspended for the 2014 season for his involvement with performance-enhancing drugs and the Biogenesis scandal.
