Maybe Alex Rodriguez wasn’t exactly truthful. Maybe his longtime friend Jose (Pepe) Gomez wasn’t truthful. Maybe both weren’t truthful to federal agents investigating the Biogenesis clinic that supplied A-Rod and other ballplayers with performance-enhancing drugs.
Attorneys for former University of Miami pitching coach Lazaro Collazo made those claims in papers filed late Thursday in Florida state court, and also hinted that Rodriguez may have curried favor with the government during the federal Biogenesis probe.
Collazo, who was a defendant in the federal Biogenesis case, filed suit against both Rodriguez and Gomez and a private investigation firm in June, claiming the defendants violated Florida law by buying confidential medical records associated with the now defunct anti-aging clinic, and that the defendants shared the records with third parties, including the Drug Enforcement Adminstration.
