Not many people had faith in this Yankees team before the season began. Even after they won the wild-card and advanced past the Twins to take on the juggernaut Indians, the naysayers were out in full force. Now, after a thrilling ALDS, these overachieving youngsters get to face the Astros, led by AL MVP candidate Jose Altuve, in the ALCS.
These circumstances remind me of one of the greatest Yankees of all time, one who also had to overcome many doubters and obstacles. Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto was the mainstay at shortstop for all the Yankees dynasty teams of the 1940s and 50s.
