Rightfielder Aaron Judge, the Yankees' top position prospect, had already logged a handful of Triple-A firsts through his initial 16 plate appearances with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
His third at-bat produced his first hit. He earned his first RBI in his second game. He walked twice during his third game.
But, stepping to the plate at PNC Field in the top of the eighth inning on Thursday night, there was still something Judge had yet to accomplish. The thing he is becoming known for. Going deep.
And in his 17th plate appearance, Judge launched his first Triple-A home run on a line drive to left field, scoring second baseman Rob Refsnyder and producing the only RailRiders runs in a lopsided 15-2 loss to Louisville.
