We knew it was coming, but now it’s official. On Monday night, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America named Aaron Judge the American League’s Rookie of the Year. He won the award unanimously, securing all 30 first place votes. Per the organization, Judge is just the 10th player in history to win the award by unanimous vote.
The Yankees right fielder had an historic 2017 campaign. He hit .284/.422/.627 with 52 home runs. That combined to form a Ruthian 173 wRC. Judge also accrued an incredible 8.2 fWAR. Along the way, he broke the rookie records for both home runs and walks.
