On Friday, New York Mets rookie first baseman Pete Alonso made history. In the bottom of the first inning in a game against the Atlanta Braves, Alonso smacked an 0-1 pitch for a home run to left field.
It was Alonso’s 52nd bomb of the year, which ties the single-season rookie record.
That specific mark was broken by none other than New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. The slugger set it back in 2017.
After the Bombers’ 14-7 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night, Judge was asked about the record-tying shot.
