TAMPA — Aaron Hicks played one game last season before he was sidelined by a strained intercostal muscle.
As the Yankees center fielder enters his final season before hitting free agency, Hicks, 29, has a primary goal for 2019.
“Stay healthy,’’ Hicks said Saturday at George M. Steinbrenner Field. “I want to play 162 games.”
The second part of that goal seems unlikely, considering the Yankees figure to have Aaron Judge, Brett Gardner and Giancarlo Stanton all spending time in the outfield, but Hicks is going to be depended on to be the regular center fielder.
