Aaron Hicks saves Yankees from rare bullpen disaster

They enter the Subway Series coming off a win and tied for first place in the AL East. Yet make no mistake the Yankees are limping and not far away from needing walkers.

Hours after losing Domingo German, the staff leader in wins, to the injured list the Yankees flushed a five-run bulge early and a one-run lead late but hung on for a 7-6 victory in 10 innings over the Indians on Sunday in front of 29,028 at Progressive Field.

Aaron Hicks’ two-out double to left-center off Oliver Perez put the Yankees ahead, 7-6, in the 10th and saved them from dropping three straight to the Indians and starting the Subway Series on Monday night at home under a canopy of bad vibes.
