Aaron Hicks exits early as Yankees’ nightmare ALDS start continues

BOSTON- The ALDS couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start for the Yankees on Friday night.

After J.A. Happ surrendered a three-run homer to J.D. Martinez in the bottom of the first and two more runs in the third, Aaron Hicks exited the game after his leadoff single to right in the fourth.

Hicks has been battling tightness in his left hamstring during the final weeks of the season and it cost him three games late in the year.

But he was in discomfort after reaching first base with just the Yankees’ second hit of the night off Boston lefty Chris Sale and was removed for Brett Gardner after a visit from trainer Steve Donohue and manager Aaron Boone.
