A-Rod’s claim swatted by former brother-in-law

Alex Rodriguez’s former brother-in-law said in court papers filed Friday that he never signed an agreement to end his interests in Newport Property Ventures, the real estate company Rodriguez formed with Constantine Scurtis in 2003.

Scurtis, who earlier this week filed a $100 million amended lawsuit against the Yankee slugger, accusing him of breach of contract among other charges, was responding to Rodriguez’s attorneys’ claim that the suit is a “sham” in papers they filed earlier this year in Miami state court.

Rodriguez’s attorneys claimed Scurtis had signed over his interest and title in Newport Property Ventures, the real estate company the men formed in 2003, making Scurtis’ lawsuit, orignally filed in December, a pretense.
