If you follow my work, you know I’m a sucker for interesting statistics. Some are eye-opening facts about the New York Yankees and some are purely entertaining.

This little breakdown is the latter, but it’s nonetheless still pretty interesting how the Yankees, since 2013, have no problem taking on the defending World Series champions.

With Saturday’s 11-6 win over the Chicago Cubs, New York extended its record to 21-10 (.677) against the reigning World Series champions in the season after their fall classic wins.

Manager Joe Girardi has led his squad to a 2-0 record versus the current defending champs, posted a 5-2 record against the Kansas City Royals in 2016, a 12-7 record vs the Boston Red Sox in 2014 and took a three-game set with the San Francisco Giants in 2013.
