Michael Pineda will make his return to the Yankee Stadium mound on Sunday for the first time since July 5, 2017. The Twins right-hander missed all of last season after he suffered a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and a flexor strain in his right elbow in that last outing with the Yankees.
Pineda arrived with high expectations in 2012 in a trade with Seattle for top catching prospect Jesus Montero. Montero proved to be a bust, and Pineda struggled with injuries and inconsistency throughout his time in The Bronx.
He signed a two-year, $10 million deal with the Twins last season while rehabbing.
