Surprising contribution: Who saw Jonathan Holder coming? For the past two seasons, Holder, a minor-league strikeout factory, was mostly below-average in the majors, giving up tons of hits — a drawback of being so consistently in the strike zone. Fast-forward to late April. Holder had started to see a velocity jump at Triple-A and he tweaked his breaking ball. The result has done wonders for Holder, who has played himself from a bullpen back-end job to increasingly more important innings. Last season, righty Tommy Kahnle was one of the best relievers in baseball, but losing miles per hour off his fastball has him back at Triple-A to figure himself out.
