PHILADELPHIA— As a club, the Yankees mostly have been hot since starting the season 9-9, the lone notable exception coming last week when they lost three in a row for the first time with the Tampa Bay Rays swept them in a weekend series at Tropicana Field.
The Yankees have rebounded nicely though, as they’ve taken the first two games of this week’s three-game interleague series against the Phillies at Citizens Bank.
The Yankees rolled to a 6-0 win on Tuesday night after prevailing 4-2 in Monday night’s series opener.
These two wins have the 52-25 Yankees back in sole possession of first place in the AL East, a half-game ahead of the 53-27 Boston Red Sox (who, by the way, will be in New York this weekend for a showdown series at Yankee Stadium).
