OAKLAND, Calif. — The Yankees have one of baseball’s best and deepest farm systems, and scouting director Damon Oppenheimer has a lot to do with it.
He drafted Aaron Judge in 2013 after 30 other clubs passed.
He drafted Dellin Betances, Jordan Montgomery and a lot of others whom either already are playing for the Yankees or are working their way up the minor-league ladder.
Oppenheimer is hoping a bunch of his latest finds from this week’s 2017 draft pan out in time, too.
