Boone said he expects that when Gary Sanchez (right groin strain) returns from the disabled list in perhaps a couple of weeks that Sanchez get a “hopefully heavy” percentage of the team’s catching reps. But how realistic is that? On one hand, Sanchez will not played full-time for about two months. On the other hand, he’ll have fresh legs — think of how many innings will have been off them. A Yankees instructor said he expected Sanchez’s first week behind the plate to be rough on his legs as he gets back into game shape, but that afterward, he’ll be fine.
