The Yankees acknowledged the Red Sox’s lineup got significantly more dangerous with the signing of slugger J.D. Martinez late Monday night. Martinez received a five-year, $110-million deal from Boston.

In 2017, Martinez posted a .303 batting average with 45 homers, 104 RBI and a 1.066 OPS. Since 2014, Martinez has averaged 32 homers and 88 RBI with a .936 OPS.

"Really good player," Boone said. "What he's done the last three of four years, I think I saw a graphic or something on TV yesterday. This is a guy that's up there with the elite names and what he's able to do, especially from an OPS standpoint the last few seasons.
