The Cleveland Indians were also in the mix, but the Rangers won the bidding war. Dillon Tate was the Rangers' fourth overall pick in 2015. Tate has a poor 5.12 ERA in Class-A this season, but he was the No. 4 overall pick for a reason. The Yankees are also getting RHPs Eric Swanson and Nick Green.
Swanson was a 8th round pick in the 2014 draft. He's 6-4 with a .343 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP at Single-A ball. Neither player is a Top 20 prospect for the Rangers. Green was a 35th round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. He's still at low-A ball.
The Rangers will likely play Beltran at DH. The team lost Prince Fielder for the season with a neck injury. Beltran is 39-years-old, but still producing at a high level. He's hitting .304 with 22 homers and 64 RBIs this year.
