The Pirates gave up a player-to-be-named later in the trade.
The Yankees had been trying to deal Nova and his expiring contract. The Yankees also sent out Carlos Beltran today, as they went full sellers at the deadline.
Nova is 7-6 with a 4.90 ERA, his lowest since the 2013 season. The 29-year-old also has a 1.36 WHIP.
