The MLB offseason is in full swing and the big story to keep an eye on is who will be coaching the Yankees in 2018? The New York Yankees and manager Joe Girardi mutually agreed to part ways, creating the most desirable opening in the sport. New York has a promising young team with money to spend on free agents. The Yankees do have some promising in-house options to replace Girardi, but we also know this franchise likes to make a splash with their hires and own the headlines. Today's Yankees manager rumors include Chris Woodward, Alex Rodriguez, Aaron Boone and Hensley Meulens.

Chris Woodward Interview
On Saturday, Chris Woodward became the fifth managerial candidate the Yankees interviewed since Joe Girardi and the Yankees parted ways, Woodward followed Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge, Hensley Meulens and Aaron Boone. He is the third base coach for the Dodgers and he has never interviewed previously for a managerial position in the MLB, however, he did coach New Zeland's entry in the 2016 World Baseball Classic. He played 11 seasons in the majors for the Blue Jays, Mets, Mariners, Braves, and Red Sox.
The Yankees would like someone more numbers-inclined, something Woodward is.
"I think you're a fool if you don't understand the importance of (analytics)," Woodward said. "As a player, I wasn't able to -- they weren't as impactful when I was finishing my career ... But I think my message to them would be, this is a way to gain an advantage. It's going to make them more successful, which in turn is going to make our team more successful and I think we'd be fools not to do that.'"
Alex Rodriguez Wishing Good Luck
Rodriguez made an appearance on the R2C2 podcast with Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia last week and made it very clear he wasn't interested in the Yankees job.
"I do wish them luck," said Rodriguez on The Players Tribune show. "I know that they have like 14 names on the list. I do wish Hal [Steinbrenner - Yankees GM] and [GM Brian] Cashman the best of luck on that."
That language doesn't suggest that A-Rod is interested in becoming the next manager at the Yankees.
Meulens and Boone Knock Interview Out Of Park
The word is that Hensley Meulens and Aaron Boone knocked their interviews out of the park. A few days ago Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said that Cashman and the Yankees may interview " one or two more" for the job after the first five.
Meulens has been the hitting coach for the Giants helping them win three World Series in the last seven seasons. Meulens also known as "Bam-Bam" spent five years with the Yankees in the late eighties and early nineties.
Boone, on the other hand, played only 54 games with the Yankees but has one of the most memorable hits in Yankees history when he blasted a home run against the Boston Red Sox in the 2003 ALCS to give the Yankees the win. Boone currently is an ESPN analyst and has been employed there for 12 years. He comes from a baseball family but the fact he has never managed before will hurt his chances of getting the job.
Cashman has not said whether he will interview anyone else, and perhaps with the first round going as well as it did, he won’t.
