In this Yankees rumors and news update, the New York Yankees are one of four teams currently pursuing a trade for Texas Rangers outfielder Alex Rios.
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees have at least registered initial interest in the coveted veteran:
Among teams that have checked in on #Rangers’ Rios, from my sources and @jonmorosi’s: #Mariners, #SFGiants, #Yankees, #Reds.

Rios has a no-trade clause in his contract, with the New York Yankees standing as one of the six teams that he can block a deal to.
Rosenthal indicates that the New York Yankees likely do not present a match for Rios and that he would be hesitant to sign off on a trade to the Bronx at this point.
However, with the chance to move into the thick of a pennant race with one of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports, several other MLB experts are indicating that Rios would at least listen if a deal was firmly on the table.
