Yankees rumors are firing up the trade machine once again with New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira landing on the disabled list with a thumb injury.
Per Sports World Report, the New York Yankees could soon look to trade for San Diego Padres infielder Chase Headley, with the possibility of shifting Headley from third to first base:
"The Yankees signed Johnson as their third baseman after Alex Rodriguez was suspended for the season and now Yangervis Solarte and Dean Anna, two rookies, will split time at 3B. The Yankees will try that for a bit and if things don't work out, they could try and snag Headley."
A deal for Headley would hinge on whether or not the Yankees feel that Mark Teixeira can come back and contribute in a normal capacity post-injury, and whether they feel like they can effectively help Chase Headley transition to first base -- a position which he has only played two games at in his MLB career.
Headley hit .250 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs last season, which was a noted drop-off from his 31 home runs and 115 RBIs during the 2012 campaign.
