New York Yankees slugger Mark Teixeira took a 95-mph slider to his left foot on Sunday, giving him a nasty toe contusion. While preliminary X-rays turned out to be negative, Teixeira is still feeling the effects pretty well.
"Yeah, it doesn't feel great right now," he said, via NJ.com.
Manager Joe Girardi says "hopefully it's just day-to-day," in regards to whether Teixeira will play Tuesday; Teixeira said he doesn't think he'll miss any time despite fearing the worst upon first contact with the pitch.
"If you're playing on a broken toe you can make it really bad," Teixeira said. "As the game went on it got really sore, so I was really concerned."
