Taking a break from the usual Yankees rumors predicting what the Yankees will do next to add to their spending spree this offseason, the New York Yankees' most noteworthy signing of the 2014 Hot Stove League just got some help from the United States Senate.
According to the New York Yankees' official Twitter, New York Senator Chuck Schumer has used his position to ensure Japanese superstar pitcher Masahiro Tanaka is free and willing to work in the United States by the time the Yankees open up for Spring Training in Tampa--
"Constituent services provided by @senschumer helps newest #Yankees pitcher expedite his visa."
A worthwhile job offer is necessary for an immigrant to gain a work visa in the United States, and Masahiro Tanaka's seven-year, $155 million contract qualifies as worthwhile. However, work visas can take two months or more sometimes to fully process, and it seems as if New York Senator Chuck Schumer wasn't willing to take that chance with his home-state team.
Senator Schumer was so grateful for the New York Yankees acknowledging his work, that he promptly retweeted the aforementioned tweet.
