Despite inking free agent Andrew Miller to a deal to boost the back of the team's bullpen, the New York Yankees still appear to be in the running when it comes to retaining the services of 2014 closer David Robertson.
According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Yankees appear to now be "flexible" when it comes to offering Robertson the fourth year that he's looking for on any free-agent deal.
Per Heyman, "with Dellin Betances, plus newly signed free-agent Andrew Miller, already in tow, the Yankees are trying to form a super bullpen -- ala the 2014 Kansas City Royals, which were an unheard of 77-1 when leading after six innings en route to their surprise American League pennant."
The Yankees do have major competition for Robertson, however. The Houston Astros actually outbid the New York Yankees on Andrew Miller, $40 million to $36 million, and also appear to be all-in on Robertson. Per George King of the New York Post, the Chicago White Sox are also a possibility.
